Repairs on Backflow and Irrigation valves

This debris in this Wilkins backflow came from the pipe before the backflow.   The debris consisted of small rusted pieces of metal.  

These valves require specific parts that can not be purchased at big box stores but through specific distributors who sell to professionals like us.  We will only use parts approved nationally according to IPC or UPC rating depending on the water Jurisdiction.   

Sometimes the leaks on backflows can be caused by damage directly to the brass.   Even an insulated backflow can freeze and this is what some of that damage looks like.   We offer our own suggestions on how to protect this device ONCE REPLACED that can cost $800 to replace(going up from there) and test/ register with the proper water purveyor. Cities can also require a permit.
